There are several Rules in the Agreement. We describe below the essential Rules. Please read and understand the rules, again and again, to learn English better.
| 23. जातिगत हवाला 'The' - the rich, the poor, the old, the young, the English, the Indian इनको plural अर्थ देता है और plural verb का प्रयोग किया जाता है। Plural अर्थ के लिये 'the poor' को 'the poors' लिखना गलत है। | Generic reference with 'The' - the rich, the poor, the old, the young, the English, the Indian makes them plural and plural verb is used for them. It is incorrect to write 'the poors', 'the olds'. |
| अमीर हमेशा खुश नहीं होते हैं। | The rich are not always happy. |
| बड़ी उम्र के लोग हमेशा सौम्य संगीत से प्यार करते हैं। | The old always love soft music. |
| युवा महत्वाकांक्षी हैं, लेकिन अधीर हैं। | The young are ambitious but impatient. |
| भारतीय काफी धार्मिक हैं। | The Indian are quite religious. |
| 24. जब वाक्य में एक बहुवचन संज्ञा दूरी, समय या राशि को दर्शाती है और इससे पहले कोई संख्यात्मक शब्द आता है तब हम इसे एक सामूहिक इकाई मानते हैं और एक विलक्षण क्रिया का उपयोग करते हैं। | When a plural noun in a sentence denotes distance, time or amount and precedes a numeric word, we consider it a collective unit and use a singular verb. |
| तीन महीने पैक अप के लिए पर्याप्त समय है। | Three months is sufficient time for pack up. |
| आजकल पांच सौ रुपये में दो दिन की सब्जी नहीं खरीद पा रहे हैं। | Nowadays, five hundred rupees is unable to buy a two-day vegetable. |
| छह मील की दूरी पर, एक खिंचाव पर, एक अच्छी शुरुआत है। | Running six miles, at a stretch, is a good start. |
| तीन लीटर गाय के दूध की कीमत लगभग दो सौ रुपये है। | Three litres of cow milk costs about two hundred rupees. |
