Rule of Apostrophe(')
| When two or more nouns come together - same ownership - जब दो या अधिक संज्ञाएं एक आए - समान स्वामित्व | |
| When two or more nouns come together, and they belong to one person/thing, add an Apostrophe + s ( 's ) to the last word. | जब दो या अधिक संज्ञाएं एक साथ आती हैं और वे एक व्यक्ति/चीज से संबंधित होती हैं। अपोस्ट्रोफी + s ('s) को आख़िरी शब्द के साथ जोड़ें। |
| e.g. Neha and Swati's father. (Neha and Swati are real sisters. - father is the same) | e.g. नेहा और स्वाति के पिताजी (नेहा और स्वाति सग़ी बहनें हैं। - पिता एक ही है) |
| When two or more nouns come together - separate ownership - जब दो या अधिक संज्ञाएं एक साथ आए - अलग-अलग स्वामित्व | |
| When two nouns come together, but they belong to different persons/things, add an apostrophe + s ( 's ) to all the words when ownership is separate. | जब दो संज्ञाएं एक साथ आती हैं लेकिन वे विभिन्न व्यक्तियों/चीजों से संबंधित हैं। स्वामित्व अलग होने पर सभी शब्दों में अपोस्ट्रोफी + s ('s) जोड़ें। |
| e.g.Priya's and Puja's parlour (Priya owns one parlour and Puja owns a different parlour) | e.g.प्रिया और पूजा का पार्लर (प्रिया एक पार्लर की मालकिन है और पूजा एक अलग पार्लर की मालकिन है) |
| Apostrophe is used with these words. - अपोस्ट्रोफी इन शब्दों के साथ लगाया जाता है। | |
| Everybody, somebody, nobody, anybody, anyone, someone, everyone, none | Everybody, somebody, nobody, anybody, anyone, someone, everyone, none |
| Everybody's opinion, anyone's objection, everyone's support. | सबकी राय, किसी की आपत्ति, सबका समर्थन। |
| Apostrophe is not used with these words. - इन शब्दों के साथ अपोस्ट्रोफी नहीं लगता है। | |
| His, hers, yours, mine, ours, its, theirs | His, hers, yours, mine, ours, its, theirs |
| That book is mine. This umbrella is mine. These all clothes are yours. | वह किताब मेरी है। यह छतरी मेरी है। ये सारे कपड़े तुम्हारे हैं। |
| Double Apostrophe in a sentence - एक वाक्य में दो बार अपोस्ट्रोफी | |
| Double Apostrophe in a sentence should be avoided. | एक वाक्य में दो बार Apostrophe के प्रयोग से बचना चाहिए |
| e.g. Avyan's friend's birthday was celebrated in the school. - Here double Apostrophe is used in the sentence. It should be written : Birthday of Avyan's friend was celebrated in the school. | |
अपोस्ट्रोफी का प्रयोग शब्दों के शॉर्ट फॉर्म लिखने में भी होता है जैसे Do not को Don't भी लिखते हैं।
It के साथ Apostrophe ('s) नही लगता है। हाँ 'It is' को शॉर्ट फॉर्म में हम "It's" लिखते हैं।
An Apostrophe is also used in writing short forms of words like we write Do not as Don't also.
The Apostrophe ('s) is not used with 'It'. For writing short form of 'It is', we write "It's".
