Sentences of Compulsion
No Compulsion. Do Willingly.
जब कोई मजबूरी न हो और सब्जेक्ट न केवल स्वेच्छा से काम करना चाहता हो, बल्कि वह उस कार्य को अपने दिल से करना चाहता है, तो हम Helping verbs (has/have/had) को (is/are/am/was/were) से बदल देते हैं।
When there is no compulsion and the subject not only wants to work voluntarily, but he wants to do that work with his heart, then we replace the Helping verbs (has/have/had) with (is/are/am/was/were).
| मेरे भाई को रोज सुबह 5 बजे उठना है। | My brother is to get up at 5 o'clock every morning. |
| मुंबई में मेरे भाई को रोज सुबह 4 बजे उठना था। | My brother was to get up at 4 o'clock every morning in Mumbai. |
| जयपुर में मेरा भाई रोज सुबह 6 बजे उठेगा। | In Jaipur, my brother will get up at 6 o'clock every morning. |
| हमे इस कॉलेज में पढ़ना है | We are to read in this college. |
| जॉन को स्कूल छोड़ना था। | John was to leave school. |
| रजनी और अंकित को रोज सुबह जल्दी ऑफिस जाना है। | Rajni and Ankit are to go to office daily early in the morning. |
| राजू को अपने पिता जी का कहना मानना है।(दिल से) | Raju is to obey his father. |
| मुझे इंग्लिश सीखनी पड़ती है या सीखनी ही है। | I have to learn English. |
| मुझे इंग्लिश सीखनी है।(दिल से चाहत है) | I am to learn English. |
| मुझे इंग्लिश सीखनी थी।(दिल से) | I was to learn English. |
| मुझे इंग्लिश सीखनी ही थी। | I had to learn English. |
| मधुर को आज निकलना ही है।(एक प्रकार की मजबूरी) | Madhur has to leave today. |
| मधुर को आज निकलना है। | Madhur is to leave today. |
| मधुर को आज निकलना था। | Madhur was to leave today. |
| मुझे यह काम दिसंबर'13 से पहले करना है। | I am to complete this work before December'13. |
| क्या मुझे कल डॉक्टर से नही मिलना था? | Was I not to meet the doctor yesterday? |
| हमें बुढ़ापे में कुछ भी नही सहना है। | We are not to endure anything in old-age. |
| मुझे उसके बारे में कुछ करना है। | I am to do something about him. |
| मुझे उसके बारे में कुछ करना पड़ता है। | I have to do something about him. |
| उसको नौकरी छोड़नी है। | She is to leave the job. |
| मुझे कल फिर डॉक्टर के पास जाना है (मेरी इच्छा है) | I am to go to the doctor again tomorrow. |
| मुझे कल फिर डॉक्टर के पास जाना है (मजबूरी है) | I have to go to the doctor again tomorrow. |
Please observe the last two sentences. In Hindi, both sentences are the same, but tone & expression is different. In the first sentence, the subject wants to go again because of his desire, and in the second, he has the compulsion to go again. At the time of speaking sentence of compulsion, a little stress is made on the word 'have'.
आखिरी दो वाक्यों पर गौर करें। दिखने में दोनों वाक्य एक समान है परन्तु भाव दोनों में अलग है। एक वाक्य में दिली इच्छा है और दूसरे में किसी प्रकार की मजबूरी है। बोलते समय मजबूरी वाले वाक्य में 'Have'
पर थोड़ ज़ोर दिया जाता है जबकि चाहत वाला वाक्य एक फ्लो में बोला जाता है।
