Irregular Adjectives

कुछ विशेषण हैं जिनकी अनियमित Comparative और Superlative फॉर्म हैं। ये शब्द नियमित नियमों का पालन नहीं करते हैं और इस मामले के अपवाद हैं जिन्हें अनियमित विशेषण के रूप में जाना जाता है।

There are some adjectives which have irregular Comparative and Superlative forms. These words don’t follow the regular rules and are exceptions to the case so-known as Irregular Adjectives.

Look at the following examples:

Positive form Comparative form Superlative form
Good Better Best
Bad Worse Worst
Little Less Least
Much/Many More Most
Old Older/Elder Oldest/Eldest
Far Further/Farther Furthest/ Farthest

Let's look at the following Positive, Comparative and Superlative sentences :

श्रवण की रचना नीता के जितनी ही अच्छी है। Shravan's composition is as good as Nita's.
नीता की रचना श्रवण से बेहतर है। Nita's composition is better than Shravan.
अनिल की रचना सबसे अधिक अच्छी है। Anil's composition is the best of the lot.

एकता की लिखावट डिंपल से भी अधिक खराब है। Ekta's handwriting is worse than Dimple's.
रोहन की लिखावट पूरी तरह से अस्पष्ट है, और यह सबसे खराब है। Rohan's handwriting is illegible, and it is the worst.

Adjectives with two or more syllables

आमतौर पर हम दो या दो से अधिक शब्दांशों वाले विशेषण की comparative degree बनाने के लिए विशेषण से पहले 'more/less' शब्द जोड़ते हैं और superlative degree बनाने के लिए विशेषण से पहले 'most/least' शब्द जोड़ते हैं।

Usually, we add the word 'more/less' before an adjective to create a comparative degree of an adjective with two or more syllables and add the word 'most/least' before the adjective to make a superlative degree.

Look at the following examples:

Positive form Comparative form Superlative form
Bored More bored Most bored
Tilted More tilted Most tilted
Seldom More seldom Most seldom
Caring More caring Most caring
Gifted More gifted Most gifted
Careful More careful Most careful
Charming More charming Most charming
Famous Less famous Least famous
Beautiful More beautiful Most beautiful
