Must

Invitations, criticism and sympathy

While serving an invitation to someone 'Must' is used by the speaker to emphasise that the presence of the guest will be valued a great deal. When we are upset by someones actions or words we use 'Must you' in question form to ask why the person did it.

Look at the examples:

Must you always criticize my actions?
You all must grace the occasion.
Must she always feed her children fast food?
You must come and have dinner with us on Sunday.
Must you always spoil the mood of yourself as well as others?

In the second sentence, we have used 'could not have' instead of 'must not have' to express Prohibition.
In the third sentence also, we have used 'had to' to express Necessity and Obligation.
