Direct-Indirect Speech - Interrogative Sentences

Indirect Speech में Simple Interrogative Sentences बदलने के नियमों में कुछ अंतर हैं। य़े हैं:

There are some differences in the Rules for changing Simple Interrogative Sentences to Indirect Speech. These are:

Rule No. 1

सभी प्रश्नवाचक वाक्यों में, Indirect Speech में Reporting Verb के 'say, says, will say, said, say to, says to, will say to, said to' शब्द को 'ask, asks, will ask, asked, ask, asks, will ask, asked' से बदल दिया जाता है। ऐसा इसलिए है क्योंकि एक पूछताछ वाक्य का उपयोग कुछ जानकारी पूछने के लिए किया जाता है। कभी-कभी हम 'demand/demanded or enquire/enquired' का भी प्रयोग करते हैं।

In all interrogative sentences, the words 'say, says, will say, said, say to, says to, will say to, said to' of Reporting Verb are replaced with 'ask, asks, will ask, asked, ask, asks, will ask, asked' in Indirect Speech. It is because an interrogative sentence is used to ask some information. Sometimes we use words 'demand/demanded or enquire/enquired' also.

Rule No. 2

सभी साधारण पूछताछ वाक्यों में, हम Indirect Speech में Comma (,) और Inverted Commas (“…”) को हटाने के लिए Conjunction शब्द 'if' या 'whether' का प्रयोग वाक्य के दोनों भागों को जोड़ने के लिए करते हैं।

In all simple interrogation sentences, we use the Conjunction word 'if' or 'whether' in Indirect Speech to join both the parts of the sentence when Comma (,) and Inverted Commas ("…") are removed.

Rule No. 3

Indirect Speech में प्रश्नात्मक वाक्य को सकारात्मक वाक्य में बदल दिया जाता है। प्रश्न चिह्न (?) को भी फुल स्टॉप (.) से बदल दिया जाता है। दूसरे शब्दों में, प्रश्नावाचक वाक्य Indirect Speech में बदलने के बाद एक सकारात्मक वाक्य बन जाता है।

In Indirect Speech the Interrogative Sentence is converted into a positive sentence. The question mark (?) Is also replaced with full stop (.). In other words, after changing the Interrogative Sentence to Indirect Speech, it becomes a positive sentence.

साधारण प्रश्नवाचक वाक्य सहायता क्रिया (is/are/am/was/were/has/have) से या प्रेजेंट / पास्ट इंडिपेंडेंट टेंस में (do/does/did) से शुरू होता है। सकारात्मक वाक्य बनाने के लिए, हम उन्हें सब्जेक्ट के बाद वाक्य के टेन्स के नियमों के अनुसार लगाते हैं।

The Simple Interrogative Sentence begins with the Helping Verbs (is/are/am/was/were/has/have) or with (do/does/did) in Present/Past Indefinite tenses. To form Positive Sentence, we place them after the subject according to the rules of the tense of the sentence.

Rule No. 4

At the time of changing the interrogative sentence to Indirect Speech, the short answer 'Yes/No' is also added to the sentence. The answer is briefly described in place of 'Yes/No' in Indirect Speech. If the answer is 'no' then the short answer will be in the negative form and if 'yes', the short answer will be in the positive form.
