Should/Ought To

'If clause' के साथ 'Should' का प्रयोग मुश्किल संभावना या संयोग को व्यक्त करने के लिए किया जाता है। यह एक काल्पनिक या एक मान्य स्थिति को दर्शाता है, उदाहरण के लिए, यदि ऐसा होता है तो क्या किया जाना चाहिए?

'Should' with 'If clause' is used to express a difficult possibility or a coincidence. It depicts a hypothetical or an assumed situation, for example, if this happens then what should be done?

Look at the following examples:

यदि आपको मेडिकल शॉप खोजने में कोई कठिनाई है, तो कृपया मुझे रिंग करें।	If you have any difficulty in finding a medical shop, please ring me up.
यदि आपको मेडिकल शॉप खोजने में कोई कठिनाई है, तो कृपया मुझे रिंग करें।	Should you have any difficulty in finding a medical shop, please ring me up.
अगर अंगूठी तुम्हारी पसंद की ना हो तो तुम बिना अड़चन के वापस कर सकती हो।	Should the ring is not of your choice; you can return without any hitch.
यदि वह सफल हो गया तो हमें फाइव स्टार होटेल में पार्टी देगा।	Should he succeed, he would give us a party in a five-star hotel.
अगर आपको भूख लगी है, तो क्या आपको नहीं खाना चाहिए?	If you are hungry, shouldn't you eat?
अगर तुम्हें लंदन में कुछ भी शाकाहारी खाना ना मिले तो शान्तुर से संपर्क करना।	Should you not get any vegetarian food in London, please contact Shantur.

'Should' 'Shall' का past tense भी है। आम तौर पर अंग्रेजी में 'should' को 'shall' के पास्ट टेन्स के रूप में संदर्भित किया जाता है लेकिन इसका उपयोग यदा कदा होता है। इसे Indirect Speech में इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता है।

'Should' is also a past tense of 'shall'. 'Should' in general English is referred to as past tense of 'shall' but the usage is quite occasional. It can be used in indirect speech when introduced by the verb in the past tense.

Look at the following examples:

मैंने कहा, "मैं सभी शुभ दिवसों पर जल्दी उठूंगा।"	I said, "I shall get up early on all the auspicious days."
मैंने कहा की मैं सभी शुभ दिवसो पर जल्दी उठूंगा।	I told that I should get up early on all the auspicious days.
उन्होनें कहा, "क्या हम भोजन के कक्ष में चलें? "	He said, 'Shall we proceed to the dining room? "
उन्होंने पूछा कि क्या हम भोजन कक्ष में चलें?	He asked should we proceed to the dining room?
छात्र सभागार में 6 बजे तक इकट्ठा होंगे।	The students shall assemble in the auditorium by 6 pm.
यह घोषणा की गई थी कि छात्रों को सभागार में 6 बजे तक इकट्ठा होना चाहिए।	It was announced that the students should assemble in the auditorium by 6 pm.
