Used to

अंग्रेजी में Used to का अर्थ है किसी चीज़ से परिचित या आदी होना। यह पिछले अभ्यस्त कार्यों, स्थितियों और परिस्थितियों को दर्शाता है जो अतीत में हुए थे और अब शायद सच ना हो। जब हम 'Used to' बोलते हैं तो वर्ब का आखिरी अक्षर 'd' का उच्चारण 'T' की तरह होता है और चूंकि अगला शब्द भी 'T' से शुरू होता है तो लगता है की एक ही 'T' है और इसका उच्चारण 'Use to' जैसा लगता है।

'Used to' in English means to be familiar or accustomed to something. It refers to the past habitual actions, state and situations which took place in the past and might not be true now. When we pronounce 'used to', the final alphabet ('d) in the verb 'used' is pronounced like a 'T' and since the next word 'to' also begins with the 'T', it appears that there is only one 'T', and it sounds like 'Use to'.

Used to' is used to talk about past situations or habits. Those things might not be true now.	Used to पुरानी स्थितियों या आदतों के बारे में बात करने के लिए प्रयोग किया जाता है। वे चीज़ें अब शायद सच ना हो।
Simran used to be our school swimming champion.	सिमरन हमारे स्कूल की तैराकी चैंपियन होती थी
Kartik used to bunk classes regularly.	कार्तिक नियमित रूप से कक्षाओं को बंक(मिस) करता था।
When using 'used to' in negative and interrogative sentences, we need to remember two things: a) Remove 'd' from 'used' and use only 'use to'. b) Use 'did' in front of 'use to'.	नकारात्मक और पूछताछ के वाक्यों में úsed to' का इस्तेमाल' करते समय हमें दो चीजों को याद रखना होगा: a) 'Used to' से 'd' हटाएँ और केवल 'use to' का उपयोग करें b) 'Use to' के साथ 'did' का प्रयोग करें
We didn't use to hire a cook.	हम रसोइए को नौकरी पर नही रखते थे।

We didn't use to go to Shimla during every summer vacation.	हम हर गर्मी की छुट्टी के दौरान शिमला नही जाया करते थे।
Did you use to travel from Gurgaon to Noida by bus?	क्या आप गुड़गांव से नोएडा तक बस से यात्रा किया करते थे?
Did you use to colour your hair then?	क्या आप तब अपने बालों को रंग किया करते थे?

Note: हालांकि, प्रश्नात्मक वाक्यों में हम 'used' बोलते हैं पर कई व्याकरण के विशेषज्ञों द्वारा इसे सही नहीं समझा गया, 'use' व्यापक रूप से स्वीकार किया गया हैं।
Used to का नकारात्मक 'used not to' है और संक्षिप्त फार्म 'usedn't' या 'usen't' है, लेकिन इन्हें शायद ही कभी उपयोग किया जाता है क्योंकि वे बातचीत के प्रवाह में आसानी से नहीं आते हैं और औपचारिक लगते हैं।

Though in interrogative sentences, we tend to say 'used', it is not deemed correct by many grammar experts, 'use' is widely accepted.
The negative of 'used to' is 'used not to' and the short form is 'usedn't or 'usen't, but they are rarely used as they don't come easily in the flow of conversation and sound formal.
