Where to use 'Who' or 'Whom'

Let’s see this rule with the above examples:

पहला उदाहरण: आपका भाई कौन है? _____आपका भाई है. अगर हम जांचते हैं कि 'He' यहां फिट बैठता है या 'Him’, तो हम पाएंगे कि 'Him' यहां अनफिट है क्योंकि वाक्य 'उसका आपका भाई है।’ सही नहीं लगता। इसलिए 'Who' का उपयोग पहले उदाहरण में किया गया है।

1st Example: Who is your brother? _____ is your brother? If we check whether 'He' fits here or 'Him', then we will find that 'Him' is unfit here because the sentence 'Him is your brother' does not sound correct. Therefore 'Who' is used in the first example.

अगला उदाहरण है - इसके बारे में मुझे किसको शिकायत करनी चाहिये। अपने आप से प्रश्न पूछने पर जवाब आएगा ‘उसे (Him)' - मुझे इसके बारे में शिकायत उसको करनी चाहिये। यहां 'वह - He' नही आ सकता - मुझे इसके बारे में शिकायत वह करनी चाहिये - गलत है। इसलिये इस वाक्य में 'whom' का प्रयोग ही सही है।

Another example is - 'To whom should I complain about it?'. When asking the question to yourself, the answer is 'Him' - 'I should complain about it to him'. It is incorrect to say 'I should complain about it to 'he'. Hence here it is correct to use the word 'Whom'.

Examples:

जिससे यह सम्बन्धित हो।	To whom it may concern.
उसकी छुट्टी के बारे में मुझे किसको सूचित करना है?	To whom should I inform about his leave?
वह व्यक्ति जिससे आप रास्ते में मिले, HDFC बैंक में काम करता है।	The person with whom you met on the way, is working in HDFC bank.
तुम्हें टिप्स कौन दे रहा होगा?	Who will be giving you the tips?

तुम किताब किसको दोगे?	Whom will you hand over the book?
वह ऑफिसर था जिसने मेरे मदद की।	He was the officer who helped me.
वह ऑफिसर था जिसको मैंने लेटर दिया।	He was the officer whom I gave the letter.
कौन मिठाई बांटेगा और किसको बांटेगा?	Who will distribute sweets and to whom?
मैं नही जानता उसने किसको आमंत्रित किया है।	I do not know whom he has invited.

The use of "Whom" in English, especially in the United States, is becoming less frequent.
