Formation of Comparative and Superlative Degree

Points to Remember:

1. The degree of comparison केवल Adjectives of Quality और Adjectives of Quantity के साथ बनाई जा सकती है।	The Degree of Comparison can only be formed with Adjectives of Quality and Adjectives of Quantity.
2. हम विशेषण के अंत में तुलनात्मक डिग्री बनाने के लिए प्रत्यय ' er ' जोड़ते हैं। या हम पहले विशेषण में 'more या less' शब्द जोड़ते हैं। नोट: प्रत्यय 'r/er' और 'more या less' शब्दों का एक वाक्य में एक साथ उपयोग नहीं किया जा सकता है।	We add the suffix 'r/er' to the end of the adjective to create a comparative degree. Or we add the word 'more or less' to the adjective first. Note: The words suffix 'r/er' and '' more or less '' cannot be used together in a sentence.
3. हम Superlative Degree बनाने के लिए विशेषण के अंत में प्रत्यय 'st/est' जोड़ते हैं। या हम पहले विशेषण में 'most or least' शब्द जोड़ते हैं। नोट: प्रत्यय 'st/est' और 'most or least' शब्द एक वाक्य में एक साथ इस्तेमाल नहीं किए जा सकते हैं।	We add the suffix 'st/est' to the end of the adjective to create a superlative degree. Or we add the word 'most or least' to the adjective first. Note: The words suffix 'st/est' and 'most or least' cannot be used together in a sentence.

Rule of using 'more' in Comparative Degree and 'most' in Superlative Degree:

तुलनात्मक डिग्री में 'more' और सुपरलीवेटिव डिग्री में 'most’ शब्द का प्रयोग उस विशेषण के साथ किया जाता है, जिसमें एक से अधिक शब्दांश (एक शब्द का उतना भाग जितना कि एक बार में बोला जाय) होते हैं।

The word 'more' in Comparative Degree and 'most' in Superlative Degree are used with the adjective which has more than one Syllables.

Let's understand the meaning of 'Syllables':

किसी शब्द में एक स्वर (ए, ई, आई, ओ, यू) की ध्वनि को जितनी बार हम सुनते हैं, उतने शब्द में शब्दांशों की संख्या होती है। दो या दो से अधिक स्वरों को एक शब्द में एक दूसरे के साथ भी आ सकते हैं, उस स्थिति में शब्दांश शब्द में स्वर ध्वनियों पर निर्भर करेगा। यदि कोई स्वर मौन है, तो उसे शब्दांश के रूप में नहीं गिना जाता है। (शब्दांश का अर्थ = एक शब्द का उतना भाग जितना कि एक बार में बोला जाय)

The number of times we hear the sound of a vowel (a,e,i,o,u) in a word is the number of syllables in the word. Two or more vowels can also be placed next to each other in a word in that case the number of syllables will depend on the vowel sounds in that word. If a vowel is silent, it is not counted as a syllable.

For examples: (1) Glee and Small have one syallable (2) Narrow and Difficult have two syllables
