Uses of 'The'
Look at the following to understand the use of Article - 'The'
| 1 | हम 'The' का उपयोग प्राक्रतिक या बेजोड़ चीजों से पहले करते हैं। | We use 'The' before things of Nature or Unique. |
| Examples: The Sun, the sky, the earth but 'The' is not used before Hell, Heaven, God, Parliament. | ||
| 2 | हम दिशाओं से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं (यदि इसके पहले Preposition आता है) | We use 'The' before Directions (if preposition comes before it). |
| Examples: The sun rises in the east. East or West, home is the best. | ||
| 3 | हम नदियों, महासागरों, समुद्रों, पहाड़ियों, झीलों, बांधों, रेलों, जहाजों, रेगिस्तानों के नाम से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं। | We use 'The' before the names of Rivers, oceans, seas, hills, lakes, dams, trains, ships, deserts |
| Examples: The Ganga, the Shatabdi Express, the Himalayas, the Bhakhra dam, the Sahara desert, the Arabian sea, the Indian ocean etc. | ||
| 4 | हम समाचार पत्रों, पत्रिका, धार्मिक पुस्तकों के नाम से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं। | We use 'The' before the names of newspapers, magazine, religious books. |
| Examples: The Gita, the Ramayan, the Indian Express, the Hindustan Times, the India Today, etc. | ||
| 5 | हम ऐतिहासिक इमारतों, सार्वजनिक स्थानों, धार्मिक स्थानों के नाम से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं। | We use 'The' before the names of historical buildings, public places, religious places. |
| Examples: The Taj Mahal, The Golden Temple, The zoo, The Akshardham Temple. | ||
| 6 | हम एकवचन संज्ञा से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं जो इसकी पूरी जाति का प्रतिनिधित्व करता है। | We use 'The' before a singular noun which represents the whole of its class. |
| Examples: The dog is a faithful animal. The tiger is a bloodthirsty animal. | ||
| 7 | हम व्यक्तिवाचक संज्ञा से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं जिसे सामान्य संज्ञा के रूप में प्रयोग किया गया है। | We use 'The' before a Proper noun which is used as a Common noun. |
| Examples: He is the Rustam of Japan. Kashmir is the Switzerland of Asia. | ||
| 8 | हम कार्यशाला, कारखाने, पार्टी, बैंक के संगठन के नाम से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं। | We use 'The' before the name of organisation of workshop, factory, party, bank. |
| Examples: The Congress party, the Reliance Industries, the BJP, the state bank of India. | ||
| 9 | हम ऐतिहासिक घटनाओं से पहले 'The' का उपयोग करते हैं। | We use 'The' before historical events. |
| Examples: The Battle of Panipat., The Quit India Movement | ||
